Welcome to Ernest Henry Mining
Ernest Henry Mining (EHM) is a copper and gold mining and processing operation located 38 kilometres north east of Cloncurry in north west Queensland, Australia. EHM is owned by Glencore, one the world's largest diversified natural resource companies and a major producer and marketer of more than 90 commodities. Our operation forms a critical part of the company's integrated north Queensland supply chain, from resource development, mining and processing, to transport, storage and export to worldwide customers. We began commercial production in March 1998 as an open pit mining operation and transitioned to underground mining in December 2011 to extend the life of our operations to at least 2026.
Glencore Australia's update on COVID-19
We're closely monitoring developments relating to COVID-19 and our key priority is to protect the health and safety of all employees and contractors whilst maintaining normal operations at our sites.
We have enacted our incident management plans in accordance with our company protocols. As part of this response, all Glencore sites are developing risk-based plans to support the health and safety of workers and the continuation of business at each operation.
The Australian Government has identified mining as an essential activity and Glencore will do everything in its power to continue running safe, responsible and sustainable operations across the country.
Site plans developed as part of this process include each of the following five core elements:
- Education for our workforce
- Separation / social distancing in the workplace
- Travel (international and domestic)
- Pre and post-diagnosis protocol and temperature screening
